Extreme cold warning in effect for Kingston

( Jan 4, 2017 - Kingston, ON) Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for:

  • Kingston - Odessa - Frontenac Islands
  • Napanee - Consecon
  • Picton - Sandbanks Park

A prolonged period of very cold wind chills continues.

An Arctic ridge of high pressure continues to bring cold temperatures and brisk northwesterly winds to Southern Ontario.

Wind chill values of minus 30 to minus 35 are forecast for tonight into Sunday morning. However Sunday will be the last day of this cold snap as temperatures moderate throughout the day. A much milder week is expected.

Environment Canada wishes to remind the public that extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Cover up, as frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill. Also, check on older family, friends and neighbours, and remember that if it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside.
